2006: Renee Steffen played in 40 games for DC last season as the starting shortstop in each game…She batted .294 with 17 RBIs and a team-leading 24 runs scored while also being named the team’s Defensive Player of the Year…Steffen also led the team in on-base percentage with a .408 clip…On March 12, Steffen had a three-hit, two-RBI performance in a 2-1 win over the College of Wooster…In addition to being named to the All-HCAC team, Steffen earned recognition as an NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete.
2005: Steffen started all 41 games that she played in, batting .235 with three home runs and 13 RBIs…A defensive presence up the middle, Steffen’s .961 fielding percentage was fourth-best on the team.
2004: Steffen was voted Co-Rookie of the Year by her teammates…As a rookie, she led freshmen in games started (41), hits (30), and tied for first for runs (17) and was second on the team with 11 sacrifices…Steffen was named to the Dean’s List for maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
High School: A graduate of Miller City High School, she was a three time First Team All-PCL member and was named PCL Player of the Year as a senior.
Personal: She is the daughter of James and Joyce Steffen and has two siblings, Nicole and Matt.
