DC's Justine Johnston named HCAC Player of the Week

GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Defiance College’s Justine Johnston (Wauseon, Ohio/Wauseon) picked up a pair of victories last week and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week. The freshman pitcher secured a 4-2 win over Albion on March 22 by tossing seven innings and allowing just two earned runs on seven hits. She topped the week with a 2-0 complete-game shutout over Denison. Johnston allowed just two hits and struck out four in the contest. For the week, Johnston threw 15.1 innings and compiled an earned run average of 0.91. She struck out 10 hitters and improved her season record to 4-2. Johnston has posted a 1.28 earned run average this year and helped the Yellow Jackets start the season with a 9-5 mark.
