DC still alive in HCAC Tournament with a win over Bluffton

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Defiance College Softball team keeps its HCAC championship hopes alive with a 3-0 victory of Bluffton University Friday afternoon.

Defiance scored all three runs in the top of the third inning on an RBI single by Renee Steffen and a two-run homerun by Melanie Bushman. That would be all Justine Johnston needed to earn her second victory of the day and of the tournament, tossing a two-hit shutout with five strikeouts.

Bushman went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs, and a run scored. Steffen went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Alicia Allen went 1-for-2.

DC takes on Mount St. Joseph tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m.
