Johnston Earns NCAA Regional All-Tournament Honors

ITHACA, N,Y. – Justine Johnston has been named to 2008 NCAA Ithaca, N.Y. Regional All-Tournament team, after helping Defiance reach the Regional Final Four for the first time in school history.

The junior hurler went 2-2 with a 0.97 ERA in DC’s four games at the NCAA Regional Tournament held on the campus of Ithaca College. She threw her fifth shutout of the season in Defiance’s third-round matchup against No. 13 Ramapo, while tying the school-record for most wins in a season with 18.

The Wauseon, Ohio native went 18-8 with a 1.69 ERA this season, reaching the 100-strikeout plateau for the third time in her career. Johnston earned HCAC Pitcher of the Week honors three times, while being named an All-HCAC selection for the third year in a row. She was also named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Second Team, the second consecutive season that a member of the DC softball team has earned that distinction.

Johnston helped the Jackets to a 24-18 overall record and a 10-6 mark in the HCAC, while also going 3-0 with a 1.00 ERA in the HCAC Tournament to help DC claim the title.

Johnston was 2-2 with a 0.97 ERA in the NCAA Regional Tournament.
