Jackets Win Streak Ended

DEFIANCE, Ohio --- After taking the first game of an Alumnae Day doubleheader in five innings, 9-0, the Defiance College Jackets could not overcome the early 1-0 lead taken by visiting Mount St. Joseph.

In game one, senior Chris Moreo (Delphos, OH/ Delphos Jefferson) was three-for-three and Kelly VanderHorst was two-for-three, both finishing with three RBI’s. Moreo finished four-for-seven on the day.

Alicia Allen was the game one winning pitcher with three hits and three strikeouts in five innings.

Game two was controlled by MSJ’s Kati Stroub from the mound. The senior pitcher allowed only three hits in seven innings and struck out seven Jackets at the plate.

The lone run of the game came in the third inning on the Lion’s Amy Sunderman two base hit which scored Erin Borgan.

DC’s Robin Diers suffered the loss and saw five hits in seven full innings.

The Jackets are now 17-10 overall and 9-1 in HCAC play and will take on Ohio Wesleyan at home on April 18. First pitch will be thrown at 3:30 p.m. at Sal Hench Field.
