Late rally gives Jackets win

DEFIANCE, Ohio--- The six runs scored in the sixth inning gave the Defiance College Jackets (19-11) the needed push to bookend their wins over visiting Ohio Wesleyan College (12-12) in non-conference action at Sal Hench Field.

Pitcher Alicia Allen completed the first game allowing only five hits and striking out three while senior Chris Moreo scored the lone run to give the Jackets the 1-0 win over the Battling Bishops.

Game two appeared to be out of reach as the Jackets were down 7-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning but a Kelsey Sugg single to center field began the late Jacket rally. Six Jackets scored, with two pinch runners, a wild pitch, and an error. The game winning run came when Kacy VanderHorst scored on a passed ball.

The Jackets will have one week to prepare for their visit to rival Bluffton University on April 26. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
