Three Yellow Jackets named to Louisville Slugger All-Regional Team

DEFIANCE, Ohio—Following the school’s first-ever NCAA Softball Tournament win, three Jacket seniors, Chris Moreo, Kacy VanderHorst and Kalette Peters were named to the Louisville Slugger – National Fastpitch Coaches’s Association All-Region third team.

Moreo (Delphos, Ohio – Delphos Jefferson) was a four-year starter at short stop for the Yellow Jackets, earning All-Heartland Conference honors in each of her final three years. In 2005, the Delphos native hit .336 on the year, starting all 45 games for the Jackets at the #6 position. She had 10 doubles, a triple two home runs and a team-high 32 RBI on the year to go along with 161 assists in the field.

VanderHorst (Celina, Ohio – Celina) makes her second-straight appearance on the Louisville Slugger squad after hitting .367 to lead the Jackets in ’05. The Celina native had a team-high four home runs, with eight doubles and a triple, driving in 27 runs and fielded at a .955 clip.

Peters (Arcanum, Ohio – Franklin Monroe) finished up her record-setting DC career by hitting .333 in her senior campaign, leading DC with 13 doubles. The Arcanum, Ohio product drove in 23 runs with two triples and two round-trippers. She is the school’s all-time leader in put-outs and recorded a single-season school best of 408 this past season.

The Jackets ended the year at the NCAA Regionals with an overall record on 28-17, an HCAC Tournament Championship and a conference mark of 11-3.
