Defiance hits marks at Yellow Jacket Open

DEFIANCE, Ohio—The Defiance College Track & Field teams hosted the Yellow Jacket Open on Saturday afternoon with several Yellow Jackets hitting impressive marks.

For the women, Kristyn Tooley took the triple jump at 10.05 meters, while Rachel Moore took the javelin crown in a strong field at 33.13 meters. Sarah Plas performed well in her first collegiate meet, finishing third in the 100-meter hurdles at 16.98. Amanda Misencik sprinted a season-best in the 100-meter dash, finishing third at 13.72. Stacy Hall won the 5,000 meters at 20:13.76.

For the men, Matt Fleig finished second in both the 100 and 200-meter dash with times of 11.00 and 22.91, respectively. Eric Nicely won the pole vault at 4.41 on a windy day, while Joel Wilkins took second in both the triple and long jump at 11.47 and 5.69 meters. Alan Thompson won the triple jump at 11.82 meters. Matt Fosnaugh took third in the pole vault at 4.11 meters, while Trevor Matuszak was fourth in the hammer at 38.58 meters.

The Jacket athletes will next compete at the All-Ohio Meet on Saturday in Columbus, Ohio.
