DC Track & Field hosts HCAC Championships

DEFIANCE, OhioThe Defiance College Track & Field teams hosted the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday at Justin F. Coressel Stadium.
The DC men finished third, while the women ended in sixth place. Eric Nicely won the pole vault for the second-straight season, clearing 4.73 meters, while fellow Yellow Jacket Matt Fosnaugh got second at 4.11 meters. Kristyn Tooley won the triple jump with an impressive bound of 10.21 meters.
Sarah Plas took second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.87, while Matt Fleig finished fourth in the 100- and second in the 200-meter dash with times of 11.13 and 22.74, respectively. Alan Thompson took second in the men’s triple jump at 12.34 meters.
Trevor Matuszak was second in the hammer throw with a mark of 44.01 meters. Rachel Moore ended in the fourth place in the javelin at 30.31 meters, while Mason Patrick was fourth in the shot put at 12.46 meters.
The DC track teams will host the Defiance Open next Saturday at Coressel Stadium.
