Jackets run at Twilight Meet, Nicely remains in running for Nationals

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.—Several Defiance College track athletes competed at the Aquinas College Twilight Meet on Wednesday evening at Houseman Field in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Alan Thompson hit his career-best in the triple jump with a mark of 42’ 4 ½”, ranking him sixth all-time in the event at DC. Kristyn Tooley jumped 15’ 2” in the long jump for a personal best, while Eric Nicely and Matt Fosnaugh competed in the pole vault, going 15’ 3” and 13’ 9”, respectively.

Currently, Nicely ranked 15th in NCAA Division III with a mark of 4.76 meters in the pole vault, provisionally qualifying him for the national meet at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois on May 25 and 27.

In order to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, a student-athlete must rank in the top-16 nationally. There are two weeks of qualifying competition left before the field is set.
