Lady Jackets Take Five All-Ohio Honors

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Defiance saw five different individuals take home All-Ohio honors after placing among the top eight finishers in their respective events at the All-Ohio Championships on Wednesday. The 4x100 relay team also placed and numerous personal bests were set at the meet in yet another strong showing from the women’s squad.

The team of Kristin Goldstein, Amanda Misencik, Aubry Schafer and Kristyn Tooley legged out a 52.76 in the 4x100 relay to finish seventh and post the fourth-best time in DC history.

Tooley went on to place eighth in the triple jump with a score of 33-01.75 and Goldstein just missed the All-Ohio cutoff with a 10th-place showing in the 110 meters, but turned in the eighth-best time in DC history and set a personal best with a time of 13.46.

Kern set a personal best and finished sixth in the high jump.

Julie Kern also recorded a personal best and took sixth in the high jump with a leap of 5-00.25. The score ranks Kern among the top 10 in DC history.

The Lady Jackets were also solid in the field events as Samantha Higdon, Jessica Lipstraw, Kim Taylor, Laura Derov and Amanda Tooley all posted personal bests in their respective events.

Taylor and Derov earned All-Ohio honors with top eight finishes. Taylor took seventh in the discuss and Derov finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 37-06.50.

DC will compete in the ONU Joe Banks Invitational on Saturday before gearing up for the HCAC Championships on April 28.
