WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Defiance sent five athletes to the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday and came away with a pair of All-Ohio performances as Trevor Matuszak and Samantha Hidgon finished in the top three in the men’s and women’s weight throw.

Matuszak turned in a throw of 49-07.25 to take second place among the 12 qualifiers from around the state to compete. Matuszak’s score was over two feet better than the third and fourth-place competitors and gave the junior the top three marks in DC’s indoor history.

The women were represented by the only two freshmen to qualify for the weight throw event from around the state, as Samantha Higdon and Jessica Lipstraw picked up third and 10th place respectively. Higdon placed third and earned All-Ohio status with a throw of 42-00.50 while Lipstraw took 10th with a throw of 36-06.75.

The Jackets will be back in action on Friday at Ohio Northern.
