Wheeling Jesuit Cardinal Twilight Combined Results
WHEELING, W.V. Eric Swartz led a group of Yellow Jackets at the Wheeling Jesuit Cardinal Twilight by becoming the third DC athlete to provisionally qualify for NCAA Nationals. Brad Zarembski and Kristyn Tooley also turned in personal bests in their events to cap off a strong showing for Defiance.
Swartz set multiple personal bests en route to racking up 6167 points in the decathlon and joining Trevor Matuszak and Zarembski as the three Yellow Jackets to have provisionally qualified for Nationals in two weeks.
Zarembski also upped his chances for Nationals and set a new career high in the high jump with a leap of 6-08. That score currently ranks Zarembski at ninth in the nation in the event.
Tooley tied the DC record in the triple jump with a score of 34-05, setting a new career mark in the process. Tooley’s 34-05 was the second-best jump in the Heartland Conference this season in the triple jump event.
