Tooley's School Record Tops Strong Lady Jacket Showing at DePauw

Women's Track and Field Results

GREENCASTLE, Ind. – Kristyn Tooley set a new school record for indoor by one half inch in the triple jump to highlight a stout performance by the Lady Jackets at the DePauw Qualifiers on Friday night.

Tooley’s leap of 33-03.75 was good for a second-place finish in the triple jump competition and edged Angie Wittenmyer’s previous top mark of 33-03.25, set back during the 2002 indoor season.

Defiance racked up numerous other top-five showings across the board on Friday with Julie Kern bagging two of them. Kern took second in the pole vault (7-05.50) and third in the high jump (4-07.00), while Kristin Goldstein ran an 8.10 in the 55 meters for second place.

The Lady Jackets dominated the shot and weight throw events, picking up five top fives between the two events. Samantha Higdon, Jessica Lipstraw and Amanda Tooley nearly swept the weight throw, taking second through fourth in the event, while Kim Taylor and Hidgon took fourth and fifth in the shot put.

Tooley's 33-03.75 broke Defiance's indoor record.

DC will be back in action when it opens its outdoor schedule at the University of Cincinnati on March 17. The Lady Jackets will then host the Dick Small Invitational on March 24.
