Tooley, Zarembski Place at MSU Spartan Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Kristyn Tooley and Brad Zarembski led Defiance at the Michigan State Spartan Invitational on Saturday afternoon with top finishes. Tooley took fifth in the triple jump and recorded her season-best jump and Zarembski finished third in the high jump competition.

Tooley’s total distance of 33-03.25 in the triple-jump event was her best score of the season and the fifth-place finish was the best of the afternoon for the Lady Yellow Jackets.

Other top performances included Amanda Tooley’s and Samantha Higdon’s top-20 efforts in the shot put and Jessica Lipstraw’s 13th-place finish in the discuss throw.

Zarembski led the men’s squad with his third-place showing in the high jump after clearing 6-02.75.

Zarembski took third in the high jump.

Daniel Orta hurled the shot a distance of 45-00.50 to finish seventh and set a personal best for the season, while Eric Swartz took home 12th in the 110-meter hurdles.

Defiance will be back in action on Wednesday when it competes at the All-Ohio Championships.
