Toledo Open Combined Results

TOLEDO, Ohio – Brad Zarembski continued his late season dominance in the high jump by winning the event at Friday’s Toledo Open. Zarembski’s leap of 6-05.50 led a handful of top-10 performances for the Yellow Jackets.

Defiance was led by Kristyn Tooley and Samantha Higdon on the women’s side, as Tooley finished ninth in the triple jump competition and Higdon recorded a score of 44.08 meters to take seventh in the hammer throw.

Zarembski’s first in the high jump was the lone top finish of the meet for DC, but the Jackets notched five other top-10 efforts in four events.

Matt Fosnaugh took fourth in the javelin with a score of 47.04 meters and ended seventh in the pole vault with a height of 4.27 meters. Trevor Matuszak finished third in the hammer, flirting with his career mark by clearing 171 feet and Alan Thompson and Audric Warren took second and fourth in the triple jump.

Zarembski took first place by easily clearing 6-05.50.

Thompson’s total leap of 13.16 meters was a top-five mark in DC history and was the best performance in the triple jump of any Heartland Conference competitor during the 2007 season.

Defiance will be back in action on May 11 and 12 when it sends six student-athletes to the Wheeling Jesuit Cardinal Twilight Meet in Wheeling, W.V., with the hopes of qualifying for NCAA Nationals on May 24-26.
