DC Track and Field Garners USTFCCCA Academic Honors

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Eric Swartz and Brad Zarembski capped their outstanding seasons on the track and in the classroom by recently being named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III Outdoor All-Academic Track and Field Team.

Swartz possessed a sparkling 3.88 grade-point average through January and is majoring in accounting and finance. Along with his academic achievements, Swartz earned All-Ohio honors and hit the provisional qualifying mark in the decathlon.

Zarembski became the sixth All-American in DC history by clearing 6-08.00 in the high jump competition at the NCAA Nationals. Zarembski ended fifth at the event and was just one inch shy of the winning mark. Prior to competing at the NCAA Nationals, Zarembski claimed the Heartland Conference Championship, was named All-HCAC and earned All-Ohio honors.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, a student athlete must own a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and obtain an NCAA qualifying mark in his or her respective event.
