Matuszak and Nicely each top school record in respective events

ADA, OhioThe Defiance College indoor track and field squads ran at the All-Ohio Meet on the campus of Ohio Northern University on Friday evening.
Matuszak took top place in the weight throw with a distance of 50' 3 1/4", breaking the school record of 50' 2" that he also owned. This is the third time this season that Matuszak has broken the record in the weight throw.
In the pole vault, Eric Nicely placed second in the pole vault, clearing 15'. This is the third time this season that Nicely has broken the school record in the pole vault. Nicely held the previous best two heights of 14' 6" and 14' 7 1/4".
Eric Swartz finished second in the high jump with a mark of 6' 4". Matt Fleig, third in 55 meter dash with a time of 6.60. Steve Langley and Justin Smith ended fifth and seventh in 400 meter dash with times of 55.14 and 56.52, respectively. The team also finish fourth in 4 x 300 meter relay with a time of 1:43.
For the women's events, Julie Kern ended fifth in pole vault, going over a height of 8'. Kristin Tooley placed sixth in triple jump and seventh in long jump with distances of 31' 2" and 14' 6 1/2", respectively. Amanda Miscenik finished eighth in the 300 meter dash with a time of 46.17. Stacy Hall came in tenth in the 1000 meter run, her time being 3:27.92.
The Jacket runners have two weeks to prepare for the NCAA Nationals, held on March 10.
