Matuszak sets school record at AU Indoor Invitational

ANDERSON, Ind.The Defiance College indoor track and field squads ran at the AU Indoor Invitational on the campus of Anderson University on Saturday. The men's squad finished second while the women's team finished sixth overall.
Trevor Matuszak set a school record in the weight throw, with a distance of 47' 1/2", breaking Gene Szweda's old record of 46' 3 1/4" set in 2004.
Matt Fleig finished second in the Men's 55 Meter and 200 Meter Dash with marks of 6.65 and 23.69, respectively. Steve Langley placed fourth in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 52.83. Eric Swartz took first place in the High Jump with a 6' 2" clip, while Matt Fosnaugh won the pole vault, clearing 14'. Swartz also won the triple jump with a distance of 39' 6".
For the women's squad, Amanda Misencik placed fourth in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 29.22. Amanda Zimmerman came in second in the 800 Meter Run with a a time of 2:33.43. Julie Kern placed third in the high jump, clearing 4' 9 3/4"
The Jacket runners next travel to the Ohio Northern Friday Night Series on February 10th.
