DC's Eric Swartz wins Baldwin-Wallace Decathlon

BEREA, Ohio – Eric Swartz of the Defiance College Track & Field team won the Baldwin-Wallace Twilight Decathlon Wednesday evening with a score of 5870.

Swartz won eight of the ten events in the decathlon, including personal bests in the high jump, pole vault, and the long jump. In the high jump, Swartz went for a distance of 6'4". Swartz had a distance of 20' 9" in the long jump and cleared the 12' 9" mark in the pole vault.

Despite Swartz's performance in the decathlon, he was unable to attain a score that would qualify for the NCAA Championships. Swartz fell short of the qualifying score by less than 200 points.

Swartz will get one more chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships tomorrow as the Yellow Jackets travel back to Cleveland Friday to take part in the Baldwin-Wallace Twilight Meet.
