GREENWOOD, Ind. Trevor Matuszak and Holly Stein each earned Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week honors on Monday, April 14 after their performaces at the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships.
Matuszak set an All-Ohio Outdoor Championship meet record in the hammer throw this past weekend and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. The senior set the meet record with a toss of 183-10 to win his second-straight All-Ohio Outdoor title in the event. The toss also broke his own Defiance record, while giving him the second-best mark in Division III this outdoor season. Matuszak, a 2008 Indoor All-American, has now set record marks at both the All-Ohio Indoor and Outdoor Championships and remains undefeated in the hammer throw this season.
Stein earned All-Ohio honors in two different events this weekend at the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships to garner HCAC Field Athlete of the Week honors for her third time this season. The freshman finished second in the discus with a throw of 112-10.00, while earning a seventh-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 35-05.50. Stein owns the top marks in the HCAC in both of these events, setting them last week at the Manchester Invitational.
The track and field team will travel to Manchester College to participate in the Spartan Classic on April 19.
