DC's Lydum Named as the Throws Coach for USA Team

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College Track and Field third-year head coach, Matt Lydum, was recently selected to serve as the Throws Coach for the USA Team in the 2007 World Youth Championships in Athletics. The fifth-annual IAAF World Youth Championships will take place in Ostrava, Czech Republic from July 11-15, 2007, for athletes ranging from ages 15 to 17.

Lydum will be joining Patricia Hanna and Brian Dempsey on the staff in serving as assistant coaches. Clifton McKenzie will be the head coach.

Lydum is certified as a Level II instructor in sprints, hurdles, jumps and throws, and tutors other coaches in the USATF Level I instructor training course.

Among Lydum’s many other accomplishments, the DC Head Coach has served as a U.S. Olympic Committee Delegate to the International Olympic Academy in 1998 and was honored as the conference and regional coach of the year after leading his San Francisco State University team to the 1998 NCAC Championships.
