Matuszak Sets All-Ohio Championship Mark

DELAWARE, Ohio – Trevor Matuszak and Brad Zarembski each brought home individual titles at the 2008 All-Ohio Outdoor Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University. On the day DC had fourAll-Ohio performances, while finishing the meet with 25.50 points.

Matuszak set an All-Ohio Outdoor Championship in the hammer throw with a toss of 183-10, breaking his own school record and giving him the best mark in Div. III this year by nearly four feet. The senior remains undefeated against Div. III opponents this year, after becoming the All-Ohio Champion in the hammer throw for the second time. Zarembski, who provisionally qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships last week, won the high jump after clearing 6-04.25.

Eric Swartz earned All-Ohio distinctions for the third-straight year after finishing fifth in the high jump, while nearly missing out of the top eight in the 110m hurdles with a season-best time of 15.95. Ryan Perry was the other DC male athlete to earn All-Ohio Status, finishing seventh in the 200m with a personal-best time of 23.00.

Matuszak's record mark is best in Div. III this season.

Nic Neihaus garnered a ninth-place finish in the hammer throw with a season-best throw of
131-00.00, while Nic Alvarez ran a season-best time of 4:18 in the 1500m.

Defiance returns to action next weekend, April 18-19 at the Joe Banks Invitational on the campus of Ohio Northern University.
