DEFIANCE, Ohio Senior Trevor Matuszak will represent Defiance College at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Friday, May 23. This marks the third year in a row that a DC athlete has compete in the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Matuszak enters the meet ranked first in the nation in the hammer throw with his toss of 196-06.00 at the Billy Hayes Invitational on May 10, a throw that is over five feet further than the nation’s second-ranked competitor. The Indoor All-American remains undefeated against Div. III opponents in the hammer throw, while winning the event in six of his seven meets. Matuszak set an All-Ohio Championship mark this year in the hammer throw on his way to the event crown, while also claiming his second consecutive HCAC hammer throw title at the HCAC Championships on April 25.
The Ottawa Lake, Mich. native will look to earn All-American status with a top-eight finish, something DC head coach John Hartpence feels is very attainable.
