GREENWOOD, Ind. – Trevor Matuszak won the hammer throw at the Beaver Invitational on Saturday, March 29 and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week.
Matuszak remained undefeated this season in the hammer throw, claiming the title this weekend with a season-best toss of 167-10.00. The senior already owns Defiance’s hammer record, breaking the record last season with a toss of 173-08.00 at the HCAC Outdoor Championships.
He has carried over the tremendous success he had in the indoor season, after breaking both the school record and the All-Ohio Championship record in the weight throw during that time. The Ottawa Lake, Mich. native was named an All-American in the weight throw after finishing second with a school-record toss of 62-02.25 at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
