DC Men Take Fourth at Beaver Invitational

Beaver Invitational Combined Results

BLUFFTON, Ohio – Defiance College posted 118 team points on Saturday to end fourth at the Bluffton Beaver Invitational. The Jackets racked up several top-five performances, with Trevor Matuszak and Brad Zarembski each winning their events.

Matuszak continued his dominant 2008 campaign by notching yet another first-place showing in the hammer throw with a toss of 167-10. Matuszak’s throw was six feet longer than his event winning throw one ago.

Zarembski won the high jump event with a leap of 6-02.75 and was joined in the top three by Eric Swartz, who took third with a jump of 6-00.75.

Swartz also finished high in the 110 hurdles, taking second place with a time of 16.27. Other top performances included Matt Fosnaugh taking third in the javelin, Danny Orta ending third in the shot put, Troy

Secrest taking third in the steeple chase, Nic Alvarez finishing fourth in the 1500 meters and Seth Bidlack finishing fifth in the 800 meter run.

Defiance will continue its outdoor season next Saturday, when it competes at Manchester on April 5.
