DC Trio Help Jackets Win Dick Small Invitational

Dick Small Invitational Combined Results

DEFIANCE, Ohio –The Defiance College men’s track and field team opened up its outdoor season with a dominating performance at the Dick Small Invitational. The Jackets racked up 193 points and claimed seven individual titles on their way to the team crown.

Eric Swartz, Austin Trivett and Brad Zarembski led DC, combining for 68.5 points on the day. Swartz scored in four different events on the day, including second-place finishes in the 110 hurdles (16.35) and the high jump (6-00.00). Trivett and Zarembski each claimed two individual crowns in the meet as Trivett won the 110 hurdles (16.33) and the men’s javelin (155-01.00), while Zarembski won the high jump (6-02.00) and the triple jump (38-05.50).

Brian Badenhop won the 200m dash with a time of 23.85, while also finishing second in the 100m after being edged out by teammate Ryan Perry’s time of 11.31.

Trevor Matuszak, an Indoor All-American selection, won the hammer throw with a throw of 161-10.00. Andrew Baker (800m), Seth Bidlack (400m) and Troy Secrest (steeplechase) all earned second-place finishes for Defiance.

Defiance returns to action next Saturday, March 29 at the Beaver Invitational on the campus of Bluffton University.
