Men Finish Third as Three Capture Event Titles

ANDERSON, Ind. – The Defiance College men’s track & field team finished third at the HCAC Championships on Saturday, April 26, scoring 97 points to improve on its fifth-place finish from a year ago.

Brad Zarembski gave DC its third event title of the 2008 HCAC Championships, winning his second-straight high jump title after clearing 6-06.75. Three Jackets scored in multiple events on the final day, led by freshman Austin Trivett. The Defiance, Ohio native scored 22 points in the meet, finishing fourth in the javelin with a personal-best 163-10.00 and fifth in both the 110m hurdles (16.33) and the high jump (6-04.25) on the second day of the meet. Eric Swartz finished fourth in the 110m hurdles (16.17) and sixth in the high jump (6-02.00), while Ryan Perry was third in the 100m (11.26) and sixth in the 200m (23.47).

The men’s 4x400 relay team of Seth Bidlack, Nic Alvarez, Issac Wilkins and Andrew Baker earned a fifth-place finish with a time of 3:30.98, while Matt Fosnaugh’s throw 158-07.00 in the javelin was good for sixth place. Baker also scored in the 400m, finishing seventh with a time of 52.27.

Zarembski won his second-straight high jump title.
