N. MANCHESTER, Ind. The Defiance College duo of Trevor Matuszak and Brad Zarembski each claimed individual titles at the Manchester Invite, while also provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Championships
Matuszak won the hammer throw, breaking his own school record with a toss of 175-00. Zarembski, a 2007 Outdoor All-American, tied his career-best after clearing 6-07.00 to win the men’s high jump. He also finished second in the long jump with a leap of 19-07.00.
Austin Trivett cleared 13-06.25 to finish second in the pole vault, while Eric Swartz earned a pair of fourth-place finishes in the pole vault (12-11.75) and the javelin (139-09.00). Dan Orta also earned a second-place finish for the Jackets, placing second in the shot put with a toss of 42-10.75. Nic Alvarez (2:03.19) and Seth Bidlack (2:04.61) finished third and fourth in the 800m, while Danny Rodriguez (126-05.00) and Nic Neihaus (119-05.00) were third and fourth in the hammer throw.
