Alvarez Has Record-Breaking Performance

Friday Night Series Meet #5 Results

ADA, Ohio – The Defiance College men’s track and field team finished fifth at the Ohio Northern Friday Night Series Meet #5, totaling 56.50 points on the night.

Senior Nic Alvarez broke the school-record in the 1000m, narrowly eclipsing the old mark with his time of 2:40.12. Trevor Matuszak and Brad Zarembski each won events for the Jackets as Matuszak took home his fifth-straight weight throw title with a toss of 55-11.25, while Zarembski won the high jump after clearing 6-04.00.

DC had two other individuals place in the top four in the high jump as Austin Trivett and Eric Swartz each cleared 6-02.00 to finish third and fourth in the event. Andrew Baker set a personal-best in the 500 with a time of 1:11.19, while Swartz set a personal-best in the pole vault after clearing 13-05-75.

The Jackets return to action next Friday, March 7, when they travel to Greencastle, Ind. for the DePauw Qualifier.
