Zarembski and Matuszak Bring Home Titles for DC

Taylor Invitational Combined Results

UPLAND, Ind. – The Defiance College men’s track & field program was in action this weekend at the Taylor Invitational in Upland, Ind.

Brad Zarembski and Trevor Matuszak continued their dominance of the competition, each winning an event for the Jackets. Zarembski won the high jump for the second week in a row, clearing 6-06.00 and defeating his nearest competitor by two inches. He also finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 40-08.00. Matuszak, who also provisionally qualified last week, won the weight throw with a toss of 54-09.00.

Eddie Mason broke the school-record in the 600m with a time of 1:29.92, edging out teammate Andrew Baker’s time of 1:31.60. Ryan Perry set a new personal record in the 55m dash, finishing third with a time of 6.62. Austin Trivett and Eric Swartz finished sixth and eighth in the 55m hurdles, while Nic Alvarez was seventh in the 800m with a time of 2:12.50.

Defiance returns to action next Friday, February 8 at Ohio Northern University for the Friday Night Series Meet.
