Nicely places ninth at NCAA Championships

LISLE, Ill. – Eric Nicely of the Defiance College Track & Field team came in ninth place in the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships Friday afternoon in the pole vault competition, with a jump of 15' 5".

Nicely was the 16th and final participant chosen to compete in the pole vault event out of the field when the NCAA committee conducted its selection process this past Sunday. Nicely provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships on April 29 during the HCAC Championships, when he cleared a height of 15' 6.25". At the Defiance Open the following week, Nicely set a Defiance College record when he vaulted a height of 15' 7.25".

Nicely is the sole representative of the Defiance College Track & Field team this season in the NCAA Championships.
