Five Lady Jackets Earn All-Ohio Status

All-Ohio Outdoor Championship Results

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Defiance College women’s track and field team had ten individuals compete in the All-Ohio Championships held on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University. The Lady Jackets saw five individuals place in the top eight to earn All-Ohio honors, while tallying 24 team points.

Amanda Tooley and Holly Stein led the way for DC, each earning All-Ohio distinctions in two events. Stein, the conference leader in both the discus and the shot put, grabbed a second-place finish in the discus with a throw of 112-10.00, while also garnering All-Ohio honors in the shot put with a toss of 36-05.50. Tooley had season-bests in both the hammer throw and the shot put, finishing fifth in the hammer (131-10.00) and sixth in the shot put (36-10.25).

Three other individuals earned All-Ohio status in the meet for Defiance. Kristin Goldstein finished fifth in 100m, running a season-best time of 12.92 in the prelims.

Tooley earned All-Ohio honors in both the shot and hammer.

Samantha Higdon, who narrowly missed All-Ohio status last spring, finished seventh in the hammer (131-02.00), while Jessica Lipstraw’s throw of 107-06.00 earned her an eighth-place finish in the discus.

The 4x100m relay team of Bria Gendron, Goldstein, Courtney Lantz and Alex Thiel ran a season-best time of 52.76 in the meet, while Thiel also set a personal-best in the long jump with a leap of 15-05.50. Laura Derov narrowly missed All-Ohio distinctions, finishing ninth in the shot put with a toss of 36-00.25.

Defiance returns to action next weekend, April 18-19 at the Joe Banks Invitational on the campus of Ohio Northern University.
