ANDERSON, Ind. The Defiance College women’s track & field team finished third at the HCAC Championships on Saturday, April 26, its best finish since the 2003 season. The Jackets scored 125 points in the meet, trailing runner-up Manchester by only six points.
Holly Stein led the way for the Defiance, racking up 28 points in the meet. The freshman grabbed two event titles on the final day of the two-day event, winning the discus (130-00.00) and the javelin (108-02.00) with personal-best marks.
Several other Lady Jackets scored in multiple events on the final day of the HCAC Championships. Kristin Goldstein finished third in the 100m and seventh in the 200m, while Alex Thiel earned fifth-place finishes in the high jump (4-07.75) and long jump (15-00.50). Bria Gendron finished sixth in the high jump (4-07.75) and eighth in the 100m (13.60), while Julie Kern earned a pair of eighth-place finishes in the 400m hurdles (1:18.40) and the high jump (4-04.25).
