Stein Has Big Day at Manchester Invite

N. MANCHESTER, Ind. –Holly Stein claimed three individual titles as the Defiance College field athletes had another strong showing at the Manchester Invite on Saturday, April 5.

Stein set career-high in all three of her events after winning the shot put (38-10.25), the discus (127-02.00) and javelin (87-09.00) in only her third meet of the season. Amanda Tooley scored 14 points in the meet, finishing second in the hammer throw (118-08.00) and third in the shot put (36-08-50). Jessica Lipstraw and Rachel Flad also garnered top-two finishes for DC as Lipstraw was second in the discus (111-08.00), while Flad was second in the javelin (66-06.00).

Emily Cole cleared a career-best 8-11.75 on her way to runner-up honors in the pole vault. Julie Kern earned a pair of third-place finishes in the high jump (4-09.75) and the 110m hurdles (19.15), while Bria Gendron had two fourth-place finishes in the 100m (13.72) and the high jump (4-09.75).

Defiance returns to action next Saturday, April 12 at the All-Ohio Indoor Championships.
