Lantz and Switzer Set School-Records at ONU

Friday Night Series Meet #5 Results

ADA, Ohio – The Defiance College women’s track and field team finished fifth at the Ohio Northern Friday Night Series Meet #5, totaling 77 points on the night.

The Lady Jackets had another breakout meet as the team saw two school-records fall as frosh Courtney Lantz and Kaitlin Switzer each set new marks, while Samantha Higdon provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the weight throw. Lantz broke her second DC indoor record of the season, finishing the 500m run in 1:24.96. Switzer shattered the 1000m record with a time of 3:18.81, while Higdon won the weight throw with her toss of 50-06.00.

Kristin Goldstein and Bria Gendron each set personal-bests in the 55m, finishing fifth and sixth with times of 7.65 and 7.72 respectively. Alex Thiel set a personal-best in both the pole vault and the triple jump, clearing 8-11.75 in the pole vault and jumping 32-02.75 in the triple jump. first collegiate meet, finishing second in the shot put with a toss of 38-06.25. The 4x200 relay team finished second with a time of 1:55.88, while the 4x400 relay team was third with a time of 4:42.58.

The Jackets return to action next Friday, March 7, when they travel to Greencastle, Ind. for the DePauw Qualifier.
