Lantz Breaks School Record in 600m

Taylor Invitational Combined Results

UPLAND, Ind. – The Defiance College women’s track & field program was in action this weekend at the Taylor Invitational in Upland, Ind.

Courtney Lantz set a new indoor-record in the 600m run with a time of 1:51.33. Kaitlin Switzer also climbed the DC indoor list with a time of 3:25.75 in the 1000m, putting her second on Defiance’s indoor performance list. Kristin Goldstein’s time of 7.83 in the 55m dash ranks third all-time in DC track & field history.

Defiance continued its success in the field events, led by strong performances in the shot put and the weight throw. Samantha Higdon finished fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 46-06.00, while Jessica Lipstraw was sixth with her personal-best throw of 42-11.50. Laura Derov toss of 37-10.50 earned her fifth place in the shot put, while Amanda Tooley finished seventh with a toss of 36-10.00. In the triple-jump, Alex Thiel’s jump of 30-11.00 gave her the best performance in the HCAC this season.

Defiance returns to action next Friday, February 8 at Ohio Northern University for the Friday Night Series Meet.
