DC Volleyball picked to finish second in HCAC

GREENWOOD, Ind.—The Defiance College Volleyball team was selected to finish second in the conference in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Preseason Poll. Defiance College earned 66 points and one first place vote, finishing behind Mount St. Joseph who received 80 points and eight first place votes.

Defiance finished second in the HCAC last season with a 6-1 conference mark and a 21-12 record overall. DC reached the conference finals last November before falling to Mount St. Joseph in the championship match. The Yellow Jackets will look to contend for their first conference title behind seniors Danielle Rego (Toledo, Ohio – Owens CC/Bowsher) and Corrie Farley (Berkey, Ohio – Evergreen). Rego earned first team all-HCAC honors last season, recording 403 kills, while Farley led the Jackets in digs, averaging 3.84 per game.

The 2006 volleyball season is scheduled to open on September 1st, with the Yellow Jackets opening on the road at the Mount Union Invitational on September 1st and 2nd.
