KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Defiance dropped a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday at Kalamazoo. The Jackets fell 3-1 to the host Kalamazoo squad, before losing in straight-sets to St. Mary’s on the neutral court.

The Lady Jackets won the opening game of the day, edging Kalamazoo, 30-23, before dropping the final three games 25-30, 24-30, 26-30. Danyel Lipps turned in her second 20-kill performance of the season as she tattered the Hornets for 21 kills in the loss. Sara Porter and Lauren Aldridge each reached double-digit kills with 10 each and Kelsey Ferguson dished out 39 assists. Heather Bradshaw bolstered the defense with a team-high 26 digs.

Defiance fell 30-26, 30-25, 30-25 in the second match of the afternoon as St. Mary’s took the sweep. Porter led the way for DC with 10 kills and 10 digs and Annie Larkin turned in a pair of service aces.

DC (5-18, 3-3 HCAC) will face yet another non-conference foe on Tuesday when it hosts Findlay at 7:00 pm.
