DC Volleyball finishes .500 in the U. of Chicago Tournament
Nick Williams, Assistant SID
CHICAGO, Ill. - The Defiance College Volleyball team put together a solid performance on the second day of the University of Chicago Tournament that ended with a 26-30, 30-20, 30-16, 30-32, 15-13 loss to Concordia University-Wisconsin and a 30-13, 30-22, 30-28 win against North Park University.
In the first match, DC demonstrated its ability to persevere and come from behind, in what has been a common theme for the past few matches. After falling behind 2-1 after the first three sets, the Yellow Jackets rallied in the fourth set to take the game and send the match into a fifth set. Unfortunately for DC, the team was unable to capture the victory, as Concordia was able to score the last four points in the clinching game.
In the second match, DC came out firing on all cylinders and gained control early and often. The Jacket offense was potent through the match, as Defiance hit .350 for the match, limiting its mistake with a season-low eight hitting errors.
The Jacket squad has been very active this weekend, having played five matches in the past three days, four of which went the full five games. The team will get some well-deserved rest, with its next match being played on Saturday when DC hosts Siena Heights University at 10:00 a.m. and Spring Arbor University at noon.
