Lady Jackets win two in DC Invitational

DEFIANCE, Ohio— The Defiance College Lady Jacket Volleyball team defeated Spring Arbor and Geneva College, both by the count of 3-1, on Friday afternoon.

The two wins come in the first day of the annual Defiance College Invitational Volleyball Tournament, held in the Karl H. Weaner Center and McMaster Gymnasium. In game one, Julie Steineman led Defiance in kills with 21, while Jill Evans had the team lead in assists with 43 as DC downed the Cougars, 30-23, 30-25, 28-30, 30-23.

In the Jackets’ 25-30, 30-25, 30-26, 30-25 win over Geneva in game two, Steineman again led in kills with 16 and blocks with five. Lauren Aldridge added 10 kills, while Evans had 32 assists and Danielle Rego had four blocks.

Defiance will continue with DC Invitational with games on Saturday at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
