HANOVER, Ind. - Despite a valiant effort by the team, the Defiance College Volleyball team could not pull out a win against HCAC rival Hanover College, as the Jackets lost its first conference game of the year Saturday afternoon 30-25, 30-28, 32-30.
Offensively, DC played fairly well in the match, posting a .269 hitting percentage in the three games, along with 8.0 team blocks and five service aces. However, the defense was a little below what the Jackets are normally accustomed to playing, as the team committed six reception errors and 11 service errors.
Danielle Rego led the way for the Jackets with 12 kills on .458 hitting. Brittany Cooley put up 29 assists in the match. Diane Bruns had a team-high 28 digs in the effort.
Defiance (6-13, 3-0 HCAC) will continue conference play Tuesday when the team heads back to Indiana for a matchup against Anderson University. Play is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
