DC Volleyball falls to Anderson in HCAC Tournament
Nick Williams, Assistant SID
CINCINNATI, Ohio The Defiance College Volleyball team could not get back to the finals of the HCAC Tournament as the Yellow Jackets were defeated by Anderson University in the opening round by the score 30-23, 30-25, 30-23.
The Jackets were able to get solid efforts from Danielle Rego, who had 11 kills in the match, and Ashton Judis, who led DC with 16 assists. Diane Bruns totaled a team-high 23 digs.
Defiance was able to capture the final seed for the tournament with a 3-1 win over Bluffton University on October 31. In last year’s tournament, Defiance achieved the second seed and was able to make it all the way to the HCAC finals for the first time.
Although the Yellow Jackets’ record may not necessarily reflect the overall success of the team, DC had a season filled with highlights, including two school records broken by senior Corrie Farley. Farley broke the school record for digs on September 15 and the record for games played on October 16. Head Coach David Kwan also won his 70th match at Defiance on September 8 against Daemen College.
Defiance ends the season with a record of 9-20 overall and 3-5 in the HCAC.
