11th Ranked Lions Give Jackets First Conference Loss

--CINCINNATI, Ohio—The Defiance College volleyball team dropped its first conference match of the season to Mount St. Joseph on Friday evening, 3-0. The Lions beat Defiance in three sets by the scores 30-23, 30-23, 30-28.

The Yellow Jackets knew they had their work cut out for them, considering the Mount had won the last 11 meetings between the two. Defiance did go into this match with a lot of momentum, fresh off a thrilling four-set win against conference-rival Franklin College. However, the Lions proved to be more than the Jackets could handle.

Danielle Rego led Defiance with 13 kills, while Diane Bruns dug out 12 balls. Jill Evans led the way with 31 assists, in addition to three blocks.

The loss brings the Yellow Jackets' record to 13-9 and their conference record to 3-1. They next play Tuesday at Bluffton at 7:00 pm.
