Lady Jackets start 2-0


--Alliance, Ohio—The DC Volleyball squad got off to a good start with two wins in the Mt. Union Invitational on Friday evening in Alliance, Ohio.

In the first game, Defiance downed Siena Heights in three straight games, 30-14, 30-11, 31-29. In game two the Jackets needed five games to defeat host Mt. Union, 27-30, 26-30, 30-16, 30-22, 15-9.

Against Seina Heights, Nikki Retcher led in kills with 17 while Mandy Owens and Julie Steineman each had seven. Jill Evans and Diane Bruns had 17 assists apiece. Evans also tied for the lead in digs with Corrie Farley with 13. Steineman registered one block and two block assists.

In defeating the Raiders, Retcher led in kills with 22 while Steineman had 14. Evans, again, led in assists with 26 with Bruns totaling 23 in the match. Retcher and Steineman had 21 digs apiece. Mandy Owens and Steineman played well defensively with one block and seven block assists combined.

The Lady Jackets will take on Case Western at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow in an attempt to advance in the tournament.
