Jackets Split Saturday Games

--Alliance, Ohio-- The Defiance College women’s volleyball team split a pair of games Saturday at the Mt. Union Invitational, defeating Case Western Reserve in three games, before falling to Malone in the semi-finals.

In their victory over Case Western (30-25, 32-30, 30-13), Nikki Retcher led the Lady Jackets with 14 kills, while Jill Evans added 11. Evans, and Diane Bruns tied for the team lead with 23 assists each. Corrie Farley had 23 digs, while Mandy Owens chipped in with 15 of her own. Owens also had one solo block.

In the loss to Malone (30-25, 30-26, 30-21), Retcher again led in kills with 12, while Evans added nine. Evans also had 11 assists, and 22 digs, while Farley and Retcher had 15 digs apiece. Owens, Evans, and Julie Steineman each registered two block assists.

The Lady Yellow Jackets next play Tuesday at Heidelberg at 7:00 pm.
