Lady Jackets split at Waynesberg

WAYNESBURG, Pa.—The Defiance College Lady Jacket volleyball squad split their second and third matches of the Waynesburg Tournament, falling to Wittenberg on Friday night before downing LaRoche College on Saturday morning.

DC lost 31-33, 28-30 and 14-30 to nationally third-ranked Wittenberg. Julie Steineman led the way with 10 kills and four blocks, while Corrie Farley had eight kills and a team-high 13 digs. Brittany Cooley had 30 assists against the Tigers.

In the first game Saturday morning, Defiance defeated LaRoche 30-22, 30-18, 30-17. Steineman again led DC with 15 kills and two blocks. Diane Bruns had 31 assists, while Farley had seven digs.

The Lady Jackets are now 7-6 on the year and will next face Gallaudet University at 3:00 p.m.
