Savard once again named HCAC Player of the Week

DEFIANCE, Ohio-- Defiance College’s Meghann Savard was named Heartland Conference Player of the Week on Monday for the second time this season.

Savard (St. Ignace, Mich./LaSalle) averaged a double-double for the Yellow Jackets last week. The senior center posted 19 points and 10 rebounds in Defiance’s 63-56 loss to Adrian on Dec. 28. She was 5-of-9 from the field and 9-of-12 from the free throw line while chipping in two assists. The Yellow Jackets topped Tri-State 78-56 and Savard again totaled 19 points and 10 rebounds. She was 7-of-10 from the field against the Thunder and 5-of-7 from the free throw line with one assist.

Savard leads the conference in scoring with a 19.9 average, rebounding with an 8.8 average, and field goal percentage (61.4%). Defiance is now 3-8 this season.
