Meghann Savard named HCAC Player of the Week for the third time this season

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Defiance College’s Meghann Savard (St. Ignace, Mich./LaSalle) averaged 22 points and eight rebounds per game last week and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

The senior forward netted 18 points in a 74-63 loss to Bluffton on Feb. 15. She was 7-of-13 from the field and had nine rebounds and two assists. In Defiance’s 64-55 win over visiting Transylvania on Feb. 19, Savard totaled 26 points and seven rebounds. She was 9-of-12 from the field and 8-of-9 from the free throw line. For the week, she scored 44 points, and had 16 rebounds and two assists. She was 16-of-25 (.640) from the field and 12-of-15 (.800) from the free throw line. Savard is averaging 18 points and 7.6 rebounds per game this season.

Defiance is 6-19 overall and finished seventh in the HCAC at 3-11.
