Defiance vs. Manchester Box Score

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College Women’s Basketball team could not overcome its shooting woes as the team dropped its fourth straight, this time to Manchester College Wednesday evening by the score 53-42.

The Lady Jackets were held to a season-low 25% field goal shooting percentage in the game. The 42 points score by the team was also a season low.

DC held a brief 4-0 lead two minutes into the game; however, Manchester erased the deficit after tying the game at the 16:18 mark.

Sarah Grime finished with 12 points and 11 boards
The Spartans then ran off an 11-2 run to take a seven-point lead over the next four minutes. DC was able to keep the game close throughout the rest of the half, at one point bringing the gap to 20-18 with 51 seconds to go in the period. A Spartan trey to close out the half extended the lead back to five.

The second half began with DC going on a run to bring the gap to within two. At this point the Spartans began to clamp down defensively, slowly stretching the lead back to nine with 11:32 to play.

The Lady Jackets kept fighting back with offensive rebounding and minimizing turnovers. However, the team had trouble hitting its shots and was unable to bring the game back to within a manageable deficit.

Sarah Grime had her first double-double of the season, finishing with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Katie McNamara chipped in with four points and seven rebounds, while Sarah Bird added eight points and three assists.

Defiance (10-9, 3-7 HCAC) will hit the road again this Saturday to take on Hanover at 1:00 p.m.
